Compaq's AlphaServer system has reached a new performance level in the SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer benchmark.

AlphaServer ES45 system running Tru64 UNIX has established a new performance level for quad-processor systems in the SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer two-tier Demand Planning Version 3.0A Standard Application benchmark, reported Compaq Computer Corp., Houston, Texas. The system achieved a level of 110,489 planned characteristic combinations per hour on aggregated level, the highest total to date for a four-processor system, the company said. The SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer benchmark is a test of the scientific number-crunching performance needed for supply chain environments.

Novell develops data synchronization software

Novell Inc., Provo, Utah, has developed a new version of its data synchronization software designed to help companies tie data and systems together. DirXML 1.1 links data stored in directories, applications and databases. The company also developed DirXML Driver for SAP Human Resources which integrates user identity information between the mySAP Human Resources application, Novell eDirectory and other business applications. PeopleSoft Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., received a top award for its Enterprise Performance Management product from CMP Media's Intelligent Enterprise magazine, The Dozen. PeopleSoft was also named to the top 10 of DM Review magazine's "Top 100 Business Intelligence Companies of 2001" and was picked as the favorite by readers in the ERP applications category in the Intelligent Enterprise's readers' choice awards.

Mercator connects SAP for Mitsui

Mercator Software Inc., Wilton, Conn., is supplying integration technology to Japanese conglomerate Mitsui's European company, Mitsui & Co. Europe, London, so that affiliates and partners can connect with the company's SAP R/3 enterprise resource planning and asset management tool.

RioLabs develops Web services platform for ERP

RioLabs Inc., Denver, Colo., a Web services platform company, has developed the Web Services Assembly Platform which creates Web services from existing application functionality, such as enterprise resource planning, databases, custom and legacy applications, discovers external Web services, then assembles them together into composite applications using a UML-based collaboration model.
