Oracle and Compaq say SAP R/3 ran faster using their equipment, including the Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters and Cybermation has released an updated distributed job scheduling product.
Running SAP R/3 faster
Oracle Corp., Redwood City, Calif., and Compaq Computer Corp., Houston, Texas, announced initial performance tests with SAP R/3 4.6C and the Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters. The testing environment included SAP R/3 4.6C and Oracle9i Real Application Clusters running the parallel SD workload on a four-node Compaq Tru64 UNIX ES45 AlphaServer cluster with 16 processors. The performance increased by a factor of 1.8 when going from a one-node configuration to two-node configuration, and by a factor of 1.8 going from a two to four-node configuration.

It is a distributed job scheduling product that manages workload across all leading operating systems and enterprise resource planning ERP platforms. Improvements include Cybermation's SAP R/3 Agent to schedule work.

SAP, Walldorf, Germany, has bought the electronic bill presentment and payment consolidator software from PayNet International AG, a company of the Telekurs Group, Switzerland, and a leading provider of EBPP applications, to expand the EBPP capabilities in mySAP Financials. The move will add new functionality for strategic enterprise management and financial supply chain management within mySAP Financials.

Outerware Inc., Cambridge, Mass., introduced an intelligent agent-based software product for managing enterprise resource planning application business processes in real time. Based on an intelligent agent system, Outerware exposes business processes directly from ERP systems during run-time without modifying the ERP application or interrupting current processing, the company said.

PeopleSoft Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., announced it has hired Doug Merritt as vice president and general manager for its human resources management systems product division. Merritt was founding president and chief executive officer at Icarian, a Sunnyvale company that offers Internet-based workforce lifecycle software and worked at Patrol Software as director of sales, which was later acquired by BMC Software.

RWD Technologies Canada, Toronto, a subsidiary of RWD Technologies Inc. and SAP Canada Inc., a subsidiary of SAP, have teamed to provide user training and support services to SAP customers in Canada. The companies will provide a number of products and services to SAP customers, including training analysis and strategic planning, training materials and document creation, online support system implementation, training delivery, change management and continuous improvement.
