SAP host now known as BlueStar

ORLANDO - Displeased with customers mistaking them for the cable entertainment network, ASP eOnline Inc., known primarily for hosting SAP applications, announced at Sapphire that it would change its name to BlueStar Solutions.

"BlueStar is easy to spell, easy to remember and is a real word," Betty Skatoff, vice president of marketing communications for BlueStar, told searchSAP. The name is also flexible, so if the Cupertino, Calif.-based ASP decides to branch out into other businesses, its name doesn't restrict it, she said.

The company also announced its latest customer, Color Spot Nurseries, which operates in Arizona, California, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Color Spot is now running its first installation of mySAP Financials, hosted out of BlueStar's data center in Phoenix. The wholesale nursery will later add SAP's business intelligence, Internet transaction services and wireless handheld support through BlueStar.

In addition to hosting SAP's software, the ASP also has partnerships with Siebel Systems Inc., Ariba Inc. and Intershop. Its services include hosting, managed applications and technical services.

In addition, BlueStar has a Basis support technician on call 24 hours a day. Basis is a key part of administering an SAP system, and all application modules of a SAP R/3 system are integrated using Basis.
