Validating against a remote system

I have to set up an ALE scenario with these parameters:

System A (HR) contains HR master records and does the payroll postings
System B (FI) is the main system that should receive all financial postings from the HR system. It also contains the HR master record.

The question I have is: Can I validate the cost centers assigned to the HR master record in System B and post in system A with the cost center assigned in system A? The result I'm looking for is complete posting of payroll in system A with old system A cost centers. The receiving system B however does post to the cost center assigned in system B. To me this would mean that during IDoc creation, a validation of the HR master record in system B needs to occur.

It would be wonderful if you could help and confirm this theory. Also if you have any documentation on what object types and methods I need to use, I would be very interested to hear about it.
If I understand your problem right, my suggestion is:

Create a function module in the old system that retrieves the required information from the database. Enable the function module for RFC. Then you enhance your posting algorithm by calling the function in the legacy system via RFC. This retrieves the old information and you can compare it against your new data.
