This question concerns triggering a workflow in SAP by an event from a non-SAP system (Eistream) and vice-versa. How do I trigger a workflow in SAP by an event that is created in Eistream, and also, how do I transfer an event from SAP to Eistream to start a workflow there?
One option that is specific to workflow is WF-XML. This is an industry standard that allows you to trigger workflows in any WF-XML compliant system. It also allows the other system to call you back (this is because SAP is WF-XML compliant). You may need to check with Eistream to see if they are WF-XML compliant, but I think they are. If it's not, then don't worry, you can still use standard SAP techniques such as IDocs or RFC.
