Is it possible to create a workflow in one SAP system (logical system A), that is triggered by an event in another SAP system (logical system B)? Both system can communicate through RFC.
An excellent question. This can definitely be done. To trigger the workflow all you need to do is execute a Function Module or raise an event in the Logical System A. Essentially you have two choices:
1. Raising an Event ? You will find that the Function Module SWE_EVENT_CREATE is RFC enabled. This means that you can execute the function module specifying a logical destination (in your case you would specify Logical System A)
2. Using a Function Module You can use the FM SWW_WI_START_SIMPLE which is also RFC enabled. Again, just specify a logical destination and presto! Workflow in logical System A is off and running.
