We are currently using message type DESADV with IDoc type DELVRY03 for our 856 ASNs. We are moving to a new EDI translator and it has been suggested by a consultant that we change our IDoc type to DESADV. I don't see a "DESADV" IDoc type listed. We are using SAP 4.6C, upgrading soon to R/3 Enterprise.
What is the recommended IDoc type for an ASN? This is outbound to our customers using EDI version ANSI X12 4010.
Do not trust your consultant if he/she cannot name the exact IDoc type correctly. I do not see a reason to change the IDoc type if the old one carries all the necessary information. If the translator requires it, then the maker of the translator needs to explain why it is so. If no distinct reason is given then the advice is not to be taken seriously.
