Can I set a Workflow in Lotus Notes or Exchange server? How do they link to SAP?
SAP can communicate with Lotus Notes or Exchange Server using a gateway program. In the case of Exchange Server, SAP provide a product called SAP Exchange Connector. Unless I am mistaken, It is distributed with SAP GUI CD (alternatively I am sure it can be downloaded from SAPNet.) This functionality allows users to be notified in their mail client (in our example, Outlook) when a Workflow is received in their Business Workplace.
The other (and little more clunky) alternative to SAP Exchange Connector is to use SAP MAPI. Though I do not have first-hand experience with it myslf, I understand that there are some issues currently relatign to SAP MAPI. I would check OSS for more information.
