Pricing procedure in CRM

If a pricing procedure is created completely in CRM, is it useful in stand-alone CRM only? If the CRM is integrated with R/3 SD, should we create the pricing procedure in R/3 and replicate it using R3AS transaction code? What is the best approach?
It makes sense to create the pricing procedure in SAP CRM if it is used as the stand-alone system. My advice is to create all the pricing config and pricing data in SAP R/3 back-end system and replicate to CRM if R/3 system is also used for order entry besides SAP CRM.
