In our test environment, our organizational structure is too big. We have 3000 positions. In each position we have...
an average of 5 people. For test purposes, we have used the same group of 5 people in all the positions. Will it have an impact in opening the inbox?
The Inbox (now referred to as Business Workplace) can suffer from performance issues. However, we'd have to be talking about some serious volumes. I have seen one site where users kept getting the TIME_OUT short dump every time they tried to open their Inbox. Obviously, not all sites will experience this as it depends on system load, the actual TIME_OUT setting, and most obviously the number of Work Items in the Inbox. I ran a small test a while back and managed to put 10,000 work items in my Inbox. Though there was a noticeable delay in opening the Inbox, it still opened fine and I was able to execute Work Items. One thing I will say is that if you are using dynamic columns they tend to really have a negative effect on the Inbox.
So in answer to your questions, if those 5 people get all the Work Items then you may find a negative performance impact. It all depends on the number of Work Items that are going to be used in testing.
