(we have payroll data that we send to the outsourcing firm for payroll). If we brought in a consultant to help with the upgrade, how much time should we plan for? I've heard anywhere from a few weeks to 5 months.
It depends on what you currently have in you SAP environment to determine how long an upgrade will take. Even without Payroll, the upgrade could take up to six months. If you have installed Benefits in the past, you will most likely need to re-implement the Benefits portion of SAP since the configuration has significantly changed. I would estimate for basic HR, you would need a minimum of 3 - 4 months; however, It really depends on what you have installed previously.
