Where is the Long Text field located that is displayed on the Purchase Orders? How would one download this information? I'm not a programmer, but would like to know how to do this.
Long texts are stored in the tables STXH and STXL. However, the text itself is in a binary format not accessible using SE16 for example, as STKL is a cluster table, so you'll need a programmer to help you, if you want to download. There are function modules which programmers can use to get this text - specifically READ_TEXT. The use of this depends upon the type of object being queried.
For example, to access Purchase Order long text, you would use:
CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT' EXPORTING OBJECT = OBJECT NAME = NAME ID = ID LANGUAGE = LANGUAGE TABLES LINES = LINES .
Where OBJECT is 'EKKO', for purchase orders NAME is the purchase order number ID is the text id which specifies with purchase order text you want - defined in table TTXID. F01, for example, is Purchase order header text Language is the required language. After the call, LINES contains the long text. The function module itself is fairly well documented.
