I have been asked to create an ALE for HR Organisational Structure on Org. Management but I don't know how to go about doing it. Would you please give some step by step instructions on creating the ALE? I have checked OSS and I only got halfway as there is just a minimum of info on this.
When you say "create an ALE" I can only assume you mean communication between two SAP systems. I have never actually done the organizational piece but in my experience, once you get the basics set up, it should all fall into place since you are using an SAP provided IDOC.
The first key item is to make sure that the systems can communicate via an R/3 connection. Without that fundamental piece it will not be possible to move through the rest of the needed steps.
Setup you logical systems in transaction SALE. Sending and Receiving Systems->Logical Systems->Define Logical System
Assign the logical system to the proper client. NOTE: Be very careful here as once the logical system has been set there are bad implications if it is changed.
Maintain your distribution model. Modelling and Implementing Business Processes->Maintain Distribution Model and Distribute Views
Generate the partner profiles using the Models you are working with.
Any communication error messages will be shown here. Once those items are working you will simply need to execute the transaction to send the data. I believe it is BD58 for Organizational data but like I said, I have not actually implemented that one so you should check that.
