I have SAP IDES 4.7 installed in my home computer and need to access it via the Internet through
SAP GUI.
What is the best way to do this?
You would probably need a fixed IP on the Internet, a firewall to protect you from unauthorized access and some sort of VPN software. It should be possible to omit the VPN software and to use
SAProuter with SNC keys instead. For this, you should install SAProuter on your PC and on the server. Both should be configured to exchange SNC keys. The installation procedure is explained in detail in the SAProuter section in the SAP Service Marketplace.
The installation steps are as follows:
- Install SAProuter on the server and your workstation.
- Install SAP Cryptographic software on the server and your workstation.
- Generate private and public SNC keys on the server and your workstation.
- Exchange the keys between one another.
- Configure SAProuter for the exchanging of SNC keys and install SAProuter as a service.
- Configure your SAP GUI that connects to your local SAProuter when connecting to your SAP system.
