SAP TechEd 2012: SAP needs to work closer with developers, says one expert

Date: Oct 24, 2012

At SAP TechEd 2012, SAP unveiled its new HANA One platform, which allows SAP customers and developers to run small HANA-based applications in the Amazon Web Services cloud.

Having an actual HANA production environment on top of the sandbox it introduced earlier this year gives developers who want to build on HANA another critical tool, explained independent consultant and developer Ethan Jewett at the recent SAP TechEd 2012 conference in Las Vegas.

"SAP's making a lot of progress recognizing that developers are an important constituency. They're not customers, and they're not exactly partners. They're different," Jewett said.

But what else should SAP be doing to get developers on board with creating applications for their latest technologies, whether it's the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) or SAP NetWeaver Cloud? Jewett lays it all out in this video from SAP TechEd 2012.
