SAP HANA-Hadoop nexus 'an intelligent play,' says one expert

Date: Oct 30, 2013

Fresh on the heels of the announcement that HANA Service Pack 7 includes additional integration with Hadoop, SAP's Vishal Sikka told SAP TechEd conference attendees that SAP HANA and Hadoop are, well, kindred technologies.

"If HANA had a best friend, it would be Hadoop," said Sikka, who oversees SAP's development efforts.

In this video shot just off the SAP TechEd 2013 convention floor, Capgemini consultant Chris Kernaghan talks about how the two technologies handle different "temperatures" of data and how this helps customers.

"It's not just SAP customers benefitting from Hadoop. You're now taking Hadoop customers and offering them the benefits of HANA as a complementary product.  It's a really intelligent play," said Kernaghan.

In the video, Kernaghan also talks about some questions he has about the HANA Enterprise Cloud roadmap.
