While many associate SAP's Ariba network of buyers and sellers with manufacturers and complex supply chains, one small software company uses the system's billing functionality primarily to manage cash flow.
Solid financial management capabilities and being part of a network that includes some of the biggest companies in the world have made a positive difference, according to Mediafly chief financial officer John Evarts. The Chicago-based Mediafly creates software used to publish consumer content out to mobile devices.
"By being innovative, and leveraging the Ariba supplier network, through concepts like dynamic discount management, we are able to do things like put off taking venture capital, and [we can] hire people earlier because we have visibility into deployment of cash flow," Evarts said.
