Putting +/- signs in front of numbers on reports

If you wish to print the sign in front of a number e.g. -10.25 rather than 10.25- as displayed by SAP write statement, here is one way to do it.
The code was written in 4.0B and works in 4.6C, and should run on 3.x versions as well.

report zz_rxdtest_02 .

parameters: p_amt(10) type p decimals 2.
write:/ 'Amount=', p_amt.
write:/ 'Formatted Amount=', p_amt using edit mask '==ZSIGN'.

function conversion_exit_zsign_output.
*"*"Local interface:

  data: text1(1) type c,
  move input to value.
  search value for '-'.
  if sy-subrc = 0 and sy-fdpos <> 0.
    split value at '-' into value text1.
    condense value.
    concatenate '-' value into value.
    condense value.
  output = value.
