SAP is taking the enhancement package model it uses for mySAP ERP to its product aimed at small and midsized businesses (SMBs).
In late 2006, SAP announced that it would upgrade mySAP ERP through a series of regular updates -- dubbed enhancement packages -- between major releases, allowing users to cherry-pick the packages they're interested in rather than forcing major upgrades.
Several packages will be released per year and will be available for download as part of SAP's standard maintenance contracts for Business One customers.
The first Business One enhancement package will be available for download in the second quarter of 2007. It will include control accounts, general ledger reporting, document printing and other financials improvements, according to SAP.
The contents of future Business One enhancement packages have not yet been announced and will be influenced by "the needs and priorities of SAP Business One customers, as monitored by SAP and its channel partners," according to an SAP release.
