SAP user CHEP, a provider of pallet and container pooling services, upgraded its SAP R/3 product while also upgrading various legacy systems. This transition posed a tremendous IT and business challenge, since any one of the changes could have caused downtime and transaction failures in CHEP's entire system infrastructure. CHEP decided to automate the SAP change control process to protect its IT stack from cascading changes, and to ensure a smooth upgrade path for their new products. CHEP explains how to automate change management.
