SAP America sweetens SMB packages

Robert Westervelt, News Writer

SAP America is rolling out two new software packages for small and midsized businesses (SMBs), adding industry specific features for beverage distributors, and consumer product and food companies.

The new software is part of the mySAP All-in-One suite and is developed by SAP partners for SMBs that have industry-specific requirements.

Developed by Broomfield, Colo.-based Summit Enterprise Solutions, one of the new software packages addresses beverage industry processes such as real-time account management, mobile sales, order forecasting and data analytics.

Cincinnati-based Itelligence Inc. developed the consumer packaged goods and food companies software, which addresses industry-specific processes such as finished product production, measuring unit translation and radio frequency support for mobile data recording.

SAP has been pushing its software in the SMB market by adding new reseller partners and developing industry-specific software, said Jim Shepherd, vice president of research at Boston-based AMR Research Inc. SAP's All-in-One suite is aimed at SMBs requiring greater functionality while its Business One suite remains its low-end offering.

"SAP continues to move down the market to extend their lead in industry vertical solutions and build a larger SMB base," Shepherd said.

SAP added more than 1,700 new SMB customers since the beginning of the year, the company reported in its Q2 earnings announcement last week.

SAP America also added two new reseller partners to distribute mySAP All-in-One and SAP Business One software suites to SMBs. Atlanta-based Enterprise Specialist Group, a division of CD Group, has provided business software services to companies throughout the southern and central United States since 1992. The company specializes in manufacturing and consumer packaged goods companies.

Ki Solutions, a division of Axion Solutions headquartered in Irvine, Calif., will sell All-in-One and Business One to SMBs in New England and focus vertically on the life sciences industry in Western United States.
