SAP launches new solution for small-to-midsize oil and gas companies

SAP America Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of German software giant SAP AG, has announced that a preconfigured mySAP Oil & Gas solution for wholesalers and distributors of petroleum products is now available in North America.

The preconfigured mySAP Oil & Gas solution reduces implementation time and lowers project costs by providing settings tailored to the special needs of the petroleum trade in five main areas: purchasing and sales, distribution, inventory management, financial accounting and controlling.

Customers can use the solution out of the box or customize it to fit their specific needs. Customers also have the option of running the application from a SAP-hosted environment.

Teknowledge and SAP settle patent dispute

California-based Teknowledge Corp. has settled all of its outstanding lawsuits with SAP America Inc. and its parent company, SAP AG. The suits concerned disputes over some of Teknowledge's patents.

As a result of the settlement, SAP paid Teknowledge $750,000 in cash and Teknowledge agreed not to bring any patent infringement suits against SAP concerning Teknowledge patents. Both companies also agreed to dismiss current suits against each other.

SAP SI successful on `go live' SAP project for Hansgrohe

SAP Systems Integration AG (SAP SI) has implemented the mySAP.com e-business platform at Hansgrohe Inc., a worldwide manufacturer of showers and bathroom equipment.

The implementation gives Hansgrohe more functionality is such areas as financials, asset management, warehouse management, production planning, materials management and sales and distribution. In addition, mySAP.com replacd Hansgroeh's legacy system so the SAP system at Hansgrohe's headquarters in Germany could be integrated and consolidated.

Siemens Power Generation streamlines development of fossil fuel power plants with SAP's Product Lifecycle Management Solution

SAP AG announced that Siemens Power Generation has chosen SAP's Product Lifecycle Management solution ro replace its existing product data management solutions.

SAP's solution will provide Siemens PG with collaborative engineering tools to manage the overall design and development of global fossil fuel power plant installations. The solution enables Siemens PG to collaborate with its partners for more efficient engineering and communication processes.

Dow Corning named a laureate of the Computerworld Honors Program for its Best-of-Breed Systems Management environment for SAP

Earlier this month Dow Corning's worldwide SAP system was named a laureate of the Computerworld Honors Program for Systems Management.

Luminate, a management service provider (MSP) for Internet-based application performance management, announced that its Luminate.Net for SAP R/3 was a key part of managing the IT infrastructure for Dow Corning's worldwide SAP system.

Dow Corning uses the Luminate.Net and Luminate's SAP R/3 Analysis Suite for centralized monitoring and management, along with other tools.
