Compaq Computer Corp. has announced that it achieved its 10,000th implementation of mySAP.com software at Unilever PLC. Compaq attributes its success in SAP implementations to its strong relationships with the Walldorf, Germany-based company and the companies' mutual investments to optimize Compaq platforms to run mySAP applications.
This implementation for Unilever consists of Compaq GS Series AlphaServers for database servers, Compaq ES series AlphaServers for application servers and StorageWorks for the storage-area networks (SANs). When it is complete, the Unilever implementation will be one of the largest mySAP installations in the world, with 55,000 users being supported across Europe.
Compaq provided project management, solutions architects and SAP experts to develop the infrastructure and install the systems, according to Unilever. The company needed to provide a customer-focused service that exceeded the IT infrastructure requirements of Unilever in Europe, Unilever said.
Compaq and SAP have been working together for eight years. As part of the alliance, Compaq offers vendor management for SAP environments, 24-7 on-site response, system health check services, remote management services, hardware and software technical support and on-site or local spare parts inventories.
