11. In order to connect a mobile scanner with WLAN capability to an existing R/3 installation you need:

a) To install SAP Mobile Infrastructure
b) To use an RFC-enabled software written for the mobile device
c) SAP XI
d) A wireless access point connected to the SAP Application Server

ANSWER(S): B

Whether you use mobile or stationary devices, the basic mean to connect them to R/3 is sending the data through calling an RFC-enabled function module in R/3 that accepts the data and processes them appropriately within R/3. Typically a mobile device connects through a base station to the network. Some WLAN enabled devices may already have a built-in PC (running LINUX or Windows) that can be programmed as needed. As a WLAN device acts like any other PC it could simply call functions via RFC in R/3. The recommended method to transfer the data would be to prepare data sent from the device in IDoc format and send them to R/3 by calling IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS.
