Phil Stathas, MIS Director, M/A-COM
Phil Stathas is the MIS Director for M/A-COM, Inc., developer and manufacturer of radio frequency and microwave semiconductors, components, and Internet Protocol network solutions for wireless telecommunications and automotive markets. Phil first joined M/A-COM five years ago as MIS manager during the implementation of SAP's Order/Entry(SD) module. A year and a half later he was promoted to MIS Director and convinced Tyco management that they could be successful in implementing a "vanilla" SAP installation.
There was a great deal of SAP code modification when M/A-COM first went live with SD. However, Phil refused to make any code changes. Instead he used ASAP methodology and included the High Tech Template Industry solution. This brought M/A-COM about 80% towards a completely configured environment. Having so many other business systems interfaced to SAP, M/A-COM had no choice but to retire the current SAP instance and go-live "Big Bang" with all the modules. M/A-COM went live with SAP HR/Payroll in December 2000. The HR implementation included Master Data, Organization Management, CATS, Time Evaluation, limited Benefits (401K, imputed GTL and Deferred Compensation) and US Payroll.
