We are trying to limit MM01 access in SAP by role. We are currently
having an issue setting up a role to be able to have full access to create
RENT materials but limit create to the storage view only (L) for all other
material types. We can't seem to make this work.

That is weird. You should be able to restict MM01 by both View and
Material type. Assuming you have configured the types correctly, you
should not be having this problem. I would recommend opening an OSS note.
