QUESTION POSED ON: 10 July 2008
I am new to SAP, but I wish to learn more about SAP administration. My experience includes a bit of network administration. What do I have to do to become an SAP administrator? Keep in mind I will be going the self-study route.

For all of you out there that wish to take the self-study approach to SAP, I suggest having a look at SDN and buying an SAP subscription. Then you get the full SAP software suite and can install it on your own machines. If you want to be an admin, then of course you need a computer that you can use to install SAP. Part of the admin process is the installation; so you will have to purge the hard drive install SAP, reinstall Windows or Linux, etc.
However, without guidance, it is difficult to get a real foothold in SAP.
