QUESTION POSED ON: 04 March 2008
We have SAP HR and PY implemented. We want to implement recruitment and travel but we're told that we cannot do it without implementing SAP Portal. Is this really necessary?

EXPERT RESPONSE
If you are using R/3 versions 4.0 – 4.7, the recruitment module can be used to track applicants applying for positions, invite candidates for interviews and generate offer letters. The recruitment module integrates with personnel administration and organizational management to enable applicants to automatically be updated as employees upon acceptance of an employment offer.

Travel Management privileges are maintained on IT0017 for employees within SAP. Using travel management functionality employees can book enter travel plans and submit them for approval using SAP Workflow. The approval can be routed to an internal corporate portal or intranet or sent directly to the approver via corporate email.

However, if you are looking to implement eRecruitment and Travel Management using ECC 6.0, Portal is required to take advantage of the full functionality of the latest release.
