QUESTION POSED ON: 28 January 2008
I want to consolidate our subsidiary companies into one server, what do I need to do if they are coming from different databases? I am looking at using DB2/AS400 for this. What are the commercial implications of this, if any?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Which consolidation are we looking at? A consolidation on business or technical level? In a business consolidation, one SAP system is to be shared among many subsidiary companies. If this is the way you are going, you probably need the SAP System Landscape Optimization Service. More information on the service is available at http://service.sap.com/slo. If the latter is the case, you probably need an OS/DB migration from the different databases into one consolidated database. For more information on the OS/DB migration service go to http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration.

I'm a techie, I have no idea whatsoever on the commercial implications. As you are proposing an AS400, you probably need to contact IBM. You will need multiple SAP licenses if you go for the technical migration. As such, you should also contact an SAP representative.
