QUESTION POSED ON: 14 November 2007
I am currently working on mainframes and have been doing so for the past three years. I have insurance domain knowledge which I gained through work experience.

I want to start a career in SAP SCM, although I honestly do not know much about SAP. Is it advisable for me to shift at this point, leaving an onsite offer? Please tell me about the career prospects of SAP, and your advice on what module of SAP would suit me.

You did not explain much about your domain expertise hence I am not able to see the connection to SAP SCM. Two important components of getting into SAP SCM are a good functional background in Supply Chain Management in industry verticals and previous SAP knowledge. At least one of them is necessary for a easy move into SAP SCM. You can try to get yourself trained and certified but it would be tough to convince your clients about the SCM background.

As someone who has worked on technology it would be ideal if you pursue SAP Basis administration as a first step into the SAP world and see if you can move into SAP SCM gradually.
