QUESTION POSED ON: 11 October 2007
How do I extract SAPinst for Solution Manager with R/3 4.7? It is showing that "JAVA_HOME" is not set. Do I need to install Java for the installation of Solution Manager?

Yes, you do. You need at least the Java SDK version 1.4.2. Take the latest build applicable to your operating system; next, set JAVA_HOME and SAPINST_JRE_HOME to the Java directory.
