QUESTION POSED ON: 17 May 2007
I plan to get trained in SCM planning with APO (DP/SNP) and eventually get certified. After reading some articles on SearchSAP.com I got the feeling that APO is not in demand. With no prior experience in SAP or SCM I would appreciate any advice you may have..

EXPERT RESPONSE
Part of the problem is that APO is a relatively old term that has been in part supplanted by SCM. You may be witnessing a nomenclature problem, not a drop in demand. Indeed, SCM in general is a hot sector of the market, and promises to get hotter as strategic supply chain requirements pull more product into companies and put more of that software in front of more users. I think SCM would be a great carrier choice at this point in time.
