QUESTION POSED ON: 26 February 2007
I am about to install SAP ECC 6.0 (NW2004s) on AIX and Oracle10.2 on a single server but I don't have enough hardware to install Solution Manager on a separate server. Where/how can I get the system to generate a key for me? Is it possible to use Solution Manager from another system (Windows/SQL -ECC6 also)?

An installation or upgrade key needs to be generated in Solution Manager for every SAP component running on Web Application Server 7.0. (a key is also needed for any installation of or upgrade to ECC 5.0)

Fortunately, the key can be generated in any Solution Manager. Some outsourcing or consulting companies even use one Solution Manager system to serve more then one customer.
