QUESTION POSED ON: 05 February 2007
Our company is currently running BW 3.5 and looking at upgrading to 7.0 shortly. I have heard that the migration is not seamless and entails a lot of manual configuration, which will have a big impact on the business should the system need to be off-line while these manual configurations are done. Can you give me a bit more information about what we can expect with such a migration?

Upgrading all systems in the SAP BW landscape might take a couple of months or more depending on how much time companies give for preparation and testing. Normally the upgrade process for one system can be done in a weekend and down time of a day or two will be good enough.
