I am searching for information regarding SAP security for CRM. Are there any resources which covers this subject? Can you offer any tips as to where I can get started and begin to understand how security operates within CRM?

Start your CRM security study with help text for transaction PPOMA_CRM. You should also understand SAP's organization management module. Many security-like characteristics and almost all organization level security is assigned as attributes to objects in the organization structure. In addition you will need to assign some standard security using standard roles created in PFCG. Don't hesitate to talk to your CRM gurus. Of necessity they understand transaction PPOMA very well.
