QUESTION POSED ON: 13 April 2006
This is a very basic question but one that I've been wondering for some time. What does SAP actually stand for?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
The full name of SAP used to be "Systeme, Anwendungen, Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung," which translates from German to Systems, Applications, and Products for Data Processing. SAP wisely decided that was a bit of a mouthful for anyone to swallow, particularly a non-German speaking audience, and it was shortened to SAP. It was apparently a good idea.
