I always think of certification as the way to move into new SAP technologies, so the best compliment to a Basis background is not a Basis certification but a NetWeaver-related certification.
There are a lot of NetWeaver courses to choose from, I'll leave it to you to narrow your choices based on your skills and interests. I would think that Web Application Server technologies would be good to have a handle on, or anything pertaining to NetWeaver systems administration. If you have more of an EAI background, the XI product could be a good area to look into.
