QUESTION POSED ON: 10 March 2004
We need to limit the access of communication and system users in our production systems and are looking for suggestions on how to proceed. Our biggest concern is how to limit the authorizations for the user ids that are used for batch processing. These user ids are set up to run background jobs by function module but of course many of the processes they run are cross application. Any ideas?

I would run a trace on those accounts for a specified period of time. This should give you a baseline of the authorizations that are being used. The Trace transactions are fairly easy to use (ST01). There is a lot of documentation available on how to use them in the 'Authorizations Made Easy' books.
