QUESTION POSED ON: 15 April 2003
Would you recommend structural authorizations? If not, why? What are the pros and cons of structural authorizations?

It depends on your organization and your objectives. I have implemented structural authorizations at certain clients and at others I have recommended against it. It just
depends on how your HR organization intends on using HR. The pros are that
you will have fewer roles (roles would be functional only, no
organizational security); if you use structural authorizations, it will
make administration much easier to deal with. However, if you attempt to
use both PA security and PD authorizations (AKA Structural Auths) you will
surely regret it.
