Why are clients looking for consultants with a technical and functional experience mix?

I have 15+ years experience in SAP CRM and ERP with 12 years working with SAP implementations, conversions and upgrades. I'm neither an ABAP programmer nor a Basis consultant, but lately it seems there is a high demand for consultants with ABAP/Basis experience. SAP shops mature over a period of time. SAP customers mostly managing the SAP shops with internal resources and offshore support. SAP customers are seeking outside consultants when no internal resources are available. Customers are forced to use techno-functional consultants to resolve technical and functional issues in the project.
