Q

What is the best way of finding a list of SRM tables?

A readers wants to look at data types and field lengths for the Purchase Order header and line items table. Application development expert Matt Billingham explains the options.

What is the best way of finding a list of SRM tables? I need to look at data types and field lengths for the Purchase Order header and line items table. I understand SE11 and SE16 can provide the detail I need if I knew which tables held the SRM PO information.
Data held in structures are filled from tables by the ABAP programs at run time.

There are many techniques to find the underlying table of SAP data. A few of these are: debug, SQL trace, Run Time Analysis. Run a transaction with any of these active, and they will tell you which tables have looked at.
