What is the difference between DataTargets and InfoProviders?

What is the difference between DataTargets and InfoProviders?
DataTargets are the objects into which data can be loaded. Basic InfoCubes, ODSs and InfoObjects are examples. InfoProviders are objects for which queries can be created and executed. Examples are MultiProviders, infosets, Basic InfoCubes and InfoObjects.
