Terminating a scheduled background job

I have scheduled a background job to run on a daily basis. How do I delete this job so that it will no longer run?

Run transaction SM37 to find the job.

In R/3 4.5x or earlier, highlight the "released" job and select Job->Scheduled Job->Cancel.
Later, if you want to run it again you can simply release it. Otherwise, you can then delete it at this point: select Job->Delete.

In R/3 4.6x, highlight the "released" job and select Job->Change or press Ctrl+F11. Then, change the "Start condition" to a date in the future. Otherwise, delete it by selecting Job->Delete.
