Suppress text and values in the header of a Smart Form

Looking to suppress text and values when they are null in the header of a Smart Form? Mark Smithson, resident Smart Form and SAPscript expert, advises a user to create several "mini-templates" above each other in the same window.

Have you ever had to suppress text and values when they are null in the header of a Smart Form? If so, have you ever had to condense/roll up the text/values that are not null?

Here is an example:

Line1 - PO text and value
Line2- Department text and value
Line3 - Release text and value

If line 2 is null, do not show it, and roll up line 3 to line 2's position. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

What you describe seems like an INFO window – such as the type found in the upper right-hand section of an Order Confirmation form – which often contains a template. My approach would be to create several "mini-templates" above each other in the same window. For instance, there could be five templates, each consisting of a single row and two columns (field and value). Attach conditions to each individual template for possible suppression based on the respective null values.

As long as all templates are in the same window, each relevant row will appear, adjusted dynamically. Just make sure that the window is large enough to accommodate all templates should they all need to print.
