Signal 11 in OS

Signal 11 means your processes are misbehaving. Our resident expert explains why.

Could you please define signal 11 from OS? This message appeared then dumped the core program and all the workprocesses...

were left hanging. I found "memory chain is broken" in the mm.info log. Our systems are ECC 5.0 and AIX 5.3.

Unix processes receive a signal 11 if they misbehave. For example, if they try to allocate more memory than they are allowed.

Verify your instance profile with SAPPFPAR (as user adm, execute, sappfpar pf= check) Can SAP memory requirements be met by the operating system?

In addition, are all installation prerequisites met? They are listed in the SAP Installation and OS Dependencies guides which can be downloaded from the SAP service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/INSTGUIDES).
