SAP XI or BW for extending SAP skill set

A technical consultant needs to decide whether to take XI or BW training. Matt Billingham offers some advice.

I have three years of experience in ABAP development and have worked in several modules. Now I want to extend my SAP skill set as per today's outsourcing opportunities. But I cannot decide whether to take training in SAP XI or BW.
It depends on your particular mindset and skills. If you are of a technical mindset, and find business concepts rather difficult to understand, or they bore you, then go to XI. If you want to move to a more customer/business understanding and be more involved in the functional side, then BW is the way to go. Whatever you do should be driven by your interests rather than the current hot topic.
