Will this not cause a lot of network traffic or must one use ITS or something else?

You can install SAPGUI on a Windows Terminal Server (either NT or W2K). Depending on how many licenses and the hardware on the Terminal Server the number of maximum users may change.

If you set up ITS then you can have users use the SAPGUI for HTML. I recommend you read the SAPGUI Family presentation that comes on the SAP FrontEnd CD. It provides a lot of information and even comparison charts on all the different SAPGUI versions.
