R3PRODHIER, R3PRODTYP, and R3PRODCLASS
I have worked with Material Master in R/3. I have come across the following three terms: R3PRODHIER, R3PRODTYP, and R3PRODCLASS

Categories and hierarchies are used to group together products and individual objects according to business criteria. In addition, R3PRODHIER is a CRM Base hierarchy that maps the R/3 Product hierarchy into CRM Product hierarchy. R3PRODSTYP is a CRM Base hierarchy that is used to map SAP R/3 material types (HAWA, DIEN etc) and R3MATCLASS or R3PRODCLASS is a CRM Base hierarchy to map the SAP R/3 Material groups.

The base hierarchy for Material/Service is R3PRODSTYP The base hierarchy for Purchase and sales are R3MATCLASS AND R3PRODHIER. The above hierarchies are downloaded from R/3 or ERP systems into SAP CRM as part of the customizing data.
