Programs not running properly in Windows

I have several programs that function only partially or not at all. Problem is, they are asking for "mswinsck.ocx". I have found this file, unzipped to the c:windowssystemsfolder and have run resvr32 mswinsck.oxc. It says it registered, and that this is posted to the latest version of this file I assume. But the programs still do not work, partially or not at all. Also, I get "runtime error 372" and "your version of mswinsock.ocx may be out of date. Check to see if original file with program." Can you help me solve this problem?

There must still be something wrong with your installation of the Microsoft (C++ runtime?) components. Probably the best way to fix this is to download these components from Microsoft and install them. If that does not help, consider re-installing Windows.
