Portals and very large Data Warehouses

It all boils downs to what you integrate in Portal that comes from a DW (a result of a query). If your portal 'front-end' simply shows the result of a query, then it is quite similar to WEB-enabling a DW. Performance is not a major issue. But If you enrich data from several DW queries and unstructured info, and compose an complex page and implement single-sign-on, then you add up additional portal resources and things slow down not because you have a large DW but rather how a portal server needs to aggregate and integrate information. So I am not sure what you had in mind when you asked the question 'experience with Large DW and Portal'.
